Church begins at 9:30. Most members come between 9:20 and 9:30 but it's easy to slip in late. As you come in you'll by greeted and handed a worship bulletin at the steps into the sanctuary. (About 6 steps up; we're not handicap accessible but we're in the midst of plans to fix that) You'll find a group of 70 to 80 people of all ages. You won't see suits and ties; dress ranges from somewhat dressy to jeans and T-shirts.
A typical worship service includes prayers, singing, reading of scripture, a children's time, a sermon lasting about 20 minutes, an offering, and a sharing time for announcements and prayer requests from the congregation.
Our singing includes both four part hymns without accompaniment, and contemporary songs sung with our music group of acoustic guitar, piano, violin and other instruments.
During the sharing time, visitors have a chance to introduce themselves if they like, or they may be introduced by someone who knows them. Prayer requests and announcements are made by members of the congregation, and the time is closed with a pastoral prayer.
Children of all ages are welcome in worship. There is also a staffed nursery available. Those elementary school age and younger are invited to the front for a 5 minute children's time every other Sunday; on alternate Sundays during the school year children are invited downstairs for Children's Church during the last half of the worship service.
The offering is usually collected by passing plates for those who wish to contribute.
The service lasts until about 10:45 am. Following the service there is a 15 minute break.
Sunday school classes begin after the break with classes for all ages. Visitors are always welcome. Children use materials from the Mennonite Church. Several adult classes usually study the Uniform lesson series, and others use other topics and materials. Sunday school classes are 45 minutes, usually ending just before noon.
A fellowship meal happens every Sunday during the school year, usually hosted by an adult Sunday school class. The meal is especially intended for visitors - you are welcome to join us without bringing anything but an appetite.
